Bank Speakers is a newly formed Toastmasters group (since November 2007) which is based on the Communication and Leadership Program of Toastmasters International, a non-profit organisation.
There are more than 11,000 affiliated clubs worldwide with over 215,000 members.
Who are we?
The Club was originally formed from the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants but is an open club and welcomes everyone.
Our Goal
The aim of Bank Speakers is to help its members improve their public speaking, communication and leadership skills.
We do this by providing the opporutnity to do the following:

local club meetings

training seminars

speech contests
-
club officer roles
You will learn both by doing and by watching fellow NZICA Bank Speakers Club members.
How do we help?
Our Club has over 20 members who meet twice a month for 75 mins. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.
You will learn, by doing :
- How to give an impromptu speech
- How to write and deliver a prepared speech
- How to listen more effectively
- How to give feedback to others in a more helpful way
- How to introduce other speakers
- How to chair and run meetings
Bank Speakers is effective because it provides a mutually supportive and positive learning environment. It is not a formal course in public speaking with instructors. Work is not graded nor tests administered.
Come Along!
Our Club thrives on guests and we have many new faces each week so we recommend you come along to a meeting as a guest. Most of our guest become members and we hope you will too.
We won't make you speak if you don't want to but we fully encourage guests to participate so you can get feedback and be on your way to becoming a better speaker.
